Meet Sonic, one of our bravest little souls and a cherished member of the Hank’s Haven sanctuary family.

Sonic came to us as an owner surrender from an inexperienced breeder. After having a litter, the breeder discovered that Sonic wasn’t in perfect health and made the difficult decision to place him in our care — where he could receive the medical attention and love he truly deserves.

After arriving at Hank’s, Sonic was immediately seen by our veterinary team and diagnosed with a severe case of hydrocephalus, a condition that causes fluid buildup around the brain. He’s also partially blind, and experiences tremors when his emotions run high. We believe he may have already experienced seizures — and if not yet, it’s something we will continue to monitor closely.

Despite his challenges, Sonic’s gentle spirit and resilience shine through every single day. He’s living his best life as a sanctuary dog, surrounded by care, comfort, and compassion.

Sonic’s ongoing care includes:
Specialized food — starting at about $80/month
Regular vet visits — typically $250+ per year for checkups and vaccines
Transportation to and from appointments
Any necessary prescription medications and monitoring
