Hi, my name is Obie and I think I heard the humans say I was a dalmation/bulldog mix….I mean, I do have the spots soooo ‍♀️. I am being fostered with 7 other dogs right now. Big and small. I’m really new to all this playing and play “language” and much prefer playing with the smaller dogs. I don’t get nervous around them and will let loose and play until I’m worn out. Sometimes, because I’m new to playing, I need to be reminded to be gentle, but I listen very well to my foster mom and correct myself easily. In my foster home there are only really loud teenagers, no small kids. I don’t like it when people are loud, I much prefer a softer voice. So I would prefer my forever home not to have any small children and ideally will be on the quieter side. I’ve met lots of new people and although I may bark, I’m just really scared and will run away. My foster mom has been working on this with me and I am trying hard, but I’m still a scaredy cat so my family will have to continue working on building my confidence as I grow. I am house and crate trained. I don’t love my crate, but I will go in it. I will bark for a bit but then settle in. My foster mom gives me some enrichment items that keep me busy. I only go in my crate when no one is home, just to keep myself out of trouble. At night I get to choose where I sleep though!!!  I usually pick the big dogs’ bed in our parents room. I like to be close to them and snuggle with the other dogs. My foster mom has introduced me to all of these yummy treats. I didn’t even know what to do with them at 1st and would just spit it out. She kept saying “sit” too and I had no clue what she meant…..but I’ve since actually ATE the treats and they are SOOOO yummy. I try to do whatever my foster mom says…..but let’s be real, it’s a work in progress as they are just SO yummy and I forget about everything. I never knew what a collar or leash was. But I’ve since learned that it means we get to go on fun adventures!!!!  So I get excited. For never walking on a leash, I think I’m doing pretty good. My mom tells me I’m a good boy, so I must be doing something right. I still don’t walk as well as my foster sisters, but I think we have established that I’m a “work in progress” I’m not a huge eater (other than those yummy treats!!!!). I get fed twice a day with one of my foster brothers. He has to be crated or he will eat all of mine as I kind of pick at it. I tend to eat all my dinner though. What can I say….I’m just not a morning person ‍♀️ From Obie’s foster mom : “Obie has made HUGE strides since coming into care. We saw right away that he had a lot of fear and that was causing him to react poorly in situations. He has since learned what it’s like to live in a pack. To play. To have access to food and water all the time. He’s learned comfort and love, not only from humans but from his fur sisters and brothers. He is no longer shut down and you can see the joy in his eyes. He is a big goofball and makes you wonder about what’s going on upstairs sometimes…..but he makes us laugh and it’s a joy to see how far he’s come. He’s a great dog and I can’t wait to see him flourish in his forever home” Obie is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is being fostered in Severn. https://www.hankshaven.ca/forms/
